A culture of respect for all people and for the world we live in…
The principles of respectful practice and the importance of play are the foundations of our teaching. Play is viewed as natural, intrinsically motivated and the right of the child. We believe in the importance of authentic and intentional experiences that are engaging.
We weave a localised whāriki – curriculum to prepare the environment for children’s play, dispositions and working theories to be explored. The rich language of the virtues guides our teaching practices, strengthen our relationships, and builds character. Children are acknowledged as capable learners and have the right to protection and safety. Trusting relationships, responsive care and the wellbeing of children and teachers are expressed through our values of aroha and manaakitanga.
Partner with parents and whanau to ensure children grow their potential…
Reciprocal partnerships with parents, whanau and community are essential to children’s holistic development to ensure we grow potential. Mutual respect and honest communication contribute to high quality outcomes for children. The diversity of families is celebrated, and we reflect children’s cultural roots and identities. Te Tiriti o Waitangi is strongly welcomed, represents Tangata Whenua ~ people of the land and inclusive for all.
A peaceful and beautiful environment for all…
Our environment fosters creativity, promoting wonder, discoveries, joy and encourages children’s curiosity and desire to explore and learn. Our calming and homely environment provides an authentic space where learning, care and rituals are purposeful and unhurried. Transition processes are informed by readiness, willingness, and the ability to change and adapt with support.
Our Vision
Management and teachers provide respectful and authentic learning environments to encourage children’s natural desire to play and learn and develop social competence. We strive to provide a strong foundation of respectful practice where children emerge as independent, competent and confident learners.
